Atkinson Piano Service has been tuning pianos and teaching piano students for over 25 years. James Atkinson, owner and teacher, fell in love with piano at the age of 5 years old.  His parents never had to remind him to practice. In fact, they had to tell him to stop and do other things! His love for music, learning and teaching grew into a life long passion.

James received his Degree in Music at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 1986. He then went on to become an Associate Member of the Piano Technicians Guild of America in 1994, and received certification at the American Institute of Piano Technology in Los Angeles, California in 1995. He has nurtured and taught many students over the years, some of which have attended Julliard, the prestigious school of music, and pursued lifelong music careers of their own. He has taught some of America’s leading talents on the big screen, as well as drummer Alex Van Halen’s son Aric. James also enjoys restoring and rebuilding pianos and composing music under the name “Atkinsongs” and also “Atkinson Troxel”. After living in California for 50 years, he now resides in American Fork, UT where he enjoys spending his time with his wife of 36 years, Coreen, and their 3 children and many grandchildren.

“The piano has been my hobby, my career,
and my love.
It is my mission to share this love and pass it on to my students.”
